The most common condition accompanying chest deformities is the presence of humpback and other posture disorders in patients. Even if pectus deformities are corrected, most of these posture disorders in the patient do not improve. In addition, because pectus can cause intrathoracic compression and impair diaphragm functions, patients often have problems with their respiratory functions and anterior chest wall flexibility.
Among the posture disorders, almost all of the patients present with the heads of the shoulders facing forward (hooked shoulder), the opening of the shoulder blades (wing scapula) and humpback. It causes an insecure and bad posture, and together with pectus deformity, which has bad psychological effects on patients, this posture disorder also causes. In addition, 25% of the patients have right or left curvature of the spine, namely “scoliosis.” Scoliosis is a condition that must be treated, like the hump, which we call kyphosis.
The most common and effective physiotherapy method in the world on the spine and these posture disorders is “Schroth” physiotherapy. Necessary equipment for Schroth physiotherapy, which can be applied with German origin “ISST” and Spanish origin “BSPTS” schools, is available in our clinic.
