Don't Let Pectus Be Your Destiny!

Assoc.Prof. Hasan Ersoz, MD

Dr. Pectus

In 2020, he was only 35 years old when he was awarded the title of "Associate Professor". But this feeling was not surprising for him. Because we are talking about a physician who became a "Doctor" at the age of twenty-three, a "specialist" at the age of twenty-eight, an "Assistant Professor" and a "Head of Department and Clinic Chief" at the age of thirty-one.

In the international symposium he organized in 2020 on pectus deformities (chest deformities), which is his special field of interest, he gathered many internationally renowned doctors from every city in Turkey and from countries such as Italy, Iraq and Saudi Arabia to his clinic and performed live surgeries and trained these doctors.

Normal Chest - Dr.Pectus

While a normal rib cage looks like the one above, a deformed rib cage becomes more prominent during childhood and adolescence because growth and bone development occur rapidly during these periods. Each condition can often lead to limitations in respiratory and cardiovascular functions as well as aesthetic concerns. Therefore, treatment options may differ depending on the severity of the deformity and symptoms. The treatment approach is determined according to the individual situation of each patient.

Most Common Chest Wall Deformities

Most Common Surgical Treatments of Chest Wall Deformities

Minimally invasive surgical technique used to correct pectus excavatum, a congenital deformity of the chest wall, by inserting a curved metal bar beneath the sternum to reshape the chest.

A 3D silicone implant for pectus treatment is a custom-made device placed over the sternum to correct the concave chest by providing volume and support, improving the chest's shape and aesthetic appearance.

Minimally invasive surgical technique used to correct pectus carinatum, a protrusion of the chest wall, by placing a metal bar for compression over the sternum to correct the deformity.

Surgical technique used to correct chest deformities, such as pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, or pectus arcuatum by removing abnormal cartilage and bone, and reshaping the chest wall with the placement of stabilizing bars or struts.

The flared ribs deformity’s surgical treatment is the removal of the protrusion of the cartilage belt in the anterior chest wall at the lowest part of the ribs, and enhancing posture for a more balanced and confident appearance.

Non-Surgical Treatments of Chest Wall Deformities

Vacuum bell treatment gently reshapes the chest, addressing pectus excavatum for an improved appearance and increased self-confidence.

Orthosis treatment utilizes custom braces or orthotic devices to improve alignment, mobility, and alleviate pain for enhanced functionality and well-being.

Bandage treatment for pectus utilizes specialized bandages to gradually reshape the chest, improving its appearance and boosting self-confidence without surgery.
